When is Chemotherapy implemented?

Chemotherapy is the process of using a chemical substances to treat a specific disease. Chemotherapy refers to cytotoxic drugs that are used to treat cancer patients.

Most chemotherapeutic drugs work by impairing mitosis (cell division), effectively targeting fast-dividing cells. All these are cytotoxic drugs.

Uses of cytostatic chemotherapy agents are treatment of autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis and the suppression of transplant rejections.
