Defination of Cartilage :
Cartilage is a dense connective tissue present in human body. Cartilage is composed of collagenous fibers with or without elastin fibers. Cartilage is made up of cells called chondrocytes. These human cells forming Cartilage are embedded in a firm gel-like ground substance called matrix.
Cartilage is present in many places in our human bodies mainly including the joints, the rib cage, the ear, the nose, the bronchial tubes and between intervertebral discs.
Cartilage serves lot of main functions such as providing a framework upon which bone deposition can begin. Cartilage support supplying smooth surfaces for the movement of articulating bones.
