What is computed axial tomography? Defination of CAT scan

Definition of computed axial tomography - The cat scan

Computed tomography (CT), which was previously referred as computed axial tomography (CAT or CT scan) and body section roentgenography, is a medical imaging procedure that uses tomography while the digital geometry processing is put to work to create a 3D image of the internals of an object from a large series of 2D X-ray images taken all around a single specific axis of rotation around that object.

CT scan produces a volume of data which can be managed and manipulated through a process which is referred as windowing, for demonstrating various structures based on their ability to block the X-ray beam.
