Leukopenia - your wbc count is falling - what to do?

Leukopenia is a fall in the total number of circulating white blood cells WBC (leukocytes) in the human blood inside human body.

As the principal function of white blood cells is to combat infection, a decrease in the number of these white blood cells can place patients at increased risk for infection and attack to on the immune system.

Low WBC count may occur due to chemotherapy, radiation therapy, leukemia, myelofibrosis and aplastic anemia. Leukopenia may also occur due to Influenza, systemic lupus erythematosus, HIV, tuberculosis, typhus, Rickettsial infections, malaria, dengue, enlargement of the spleen, folate deficiencies and sepsis.
