Next-Generation Optical Networking Solution from Verizon

There's a recent news in the marketplace that Verizon business has launched a new next-generation optical networking solution for the large businesses and the government agencies. Organizations in need of a flexible, secure, cost-effective and high-bandwidth solution for converging multiple technologies onto a single network will benefit from the introduction today of Verizon Integrated Optical Service.

The service's innovative architecture, made possible by an optical transport platform called a reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM), can help customers converge voice, video and data and deliver a wide range of applications at extremely high speeds. By using ROADM, which combines the high-bandwidth capabilities of DWDM with the resiliency of SONET, Integrated Optical Service creates a single communications platform.

It is the first such commercial offering from a U.S.-based Tier One provider.
