Progressive external ophthalmoplegia - mitochondria disorder

Progressive external ophthalmoplegia is a very specific kind of disorder of the mitochondria which is identified in the form of multiple mitochondrial DNA deletions that takes place in the skeletal muscles of the human body. One of the most common symptoms of this condition which has been clinically identified is the unexpected onset of acute weakness of the external muscles of the eyes and a complete intolerance to the exercise that the patient may adapt to.
