New vaccine for mice positing against mad cow disease

A promising new vaccine could cause fears of the human version of mad cow disease to melt away in the future same as the fat on a well-marbled T-bone steak broiling on a hot grill.

In this study, it has been found that mice that were given an oral vaccine did develope high antibody titers to the prion proteins similar to that in cattle with BSE.

The prototype vaccine tested by Wisniewski, the head researcher and his group came from prion proteins attached to a genetically altered strain of a bug called Salmonella, which has also been used in other animal and human vaccines.
