New noconnect tag from Yahoo launched

Yahoo has now introduced a special CSS class called “robots-nocontent”.

This class has to be used o on elements like a div or a paragraph tag, and with that you inform Yahoo that this part of the page is “unrelated to the main content.”

Yahoo’s help entry on this matter indicates that this syntax is suited for “headers, footers, navigational sections, repeated boilerplate text, copyright notices, ad sections, or dynamic content that is useful to users – but not to search engines.”

This is similar to nofollow tag and other strategies being suggested by search engines to better index and report content in organic search results.
