Phone-guided stroke therapy for rural patients

Stroke patients in rural hospitals will now be able to receive safe and super effective treatment with a clot-busting drug when an expert from a larger hospital will be guiding the therapy over the telephone directly to the patient.
A study was conducted recently. The study included 121 ischemic stroke patients that were treated with the clot-busting drug tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) at a rural community hospital.

In this study, the complete treatment was guided via phone by a stroke neurologist from a larger center.
