Silent brain infarction lesions in obstructive sleep apnea patients

Patients that have moderate to severe sleep apnea and having significant higher levels of serum of inflammatory markers that work as precursors to coronary artery disease and lesions associated with silent brain infarction have been found to have a greater risk of stroke as found by a group of japanese medical researchers.

The research has found that cardiovascular disease is commonly characterized by ongoing inflammatory responses that can enhance platelet activation and increase the prevalence of silent brain infarction.
