The whole world awaken for terror!

By John-Paul Ford Rojas and Alison Purdy, PA. Tony Blair warned today of the "long and deep struggle" against terrorism as the head of MI5 issued a stark assessment of the danger posed by al-Qa'ida.

According to Dame Eliza Manningham, director general of MI5, the security service is aware of at least 30 terror plots threatening the UK and 1600 people are under surveillance.

Despite the fact that MI5's strength has been almost doubled since 9/11, the agency fears the staff may not be sufficient to thoroughly probe every lead.
