New walking platform from Skycity

SkyCity prepares to open a walking platform around the outside of Auckland's Sky Tower known as SkyWalk, which is here to get opened up to the public. Skywalk was created to mark the tower's 10th birthday this year. The walk will take up to 75 minutes, including being fitted into the harness and receiving safety instructions.

Those brave enough can follow the narrow track around the tower. It has no handrail, but the walkers are secured by an overhead safety harness, in winds up to 50km/h. SkyCity Auckland general manager David Christian said two groups of six people, each with a guide, could be on the ring at any one time.
