The Foreclosure Prevention and Homeownership Protection Commission Act creates a Federal commission charged with analyzing the underlying causes of the current subprime mortgage crisis.

The core objective of the commission will be to recommend legislative and regulatory actions in order to help homeowners avoid foreclosure and unfair rate increases that are the prime hazard for them in the direction of healthy property ownership.

The second bill proposed by Betty Sutton is the Fair Disclosure for Homeowners Act that will be dealing directly with adjustable-rate mortgages.
