Definition of Hematology - Application of Hematology
Hematology is the branch of biology, clinical laboratory, internal medicine, pediatrics and the pathology that deal with complete analysis of the human blood as well as the blood forming organs of the human body as well as the diseases that affect the human blood in shorter or longer periods of time.
When you go to a clinical lab, you come to know that the hematology department is involved in the different kinds of tests for the blood. The hematology department performs tests such as complete blood to count which is also known as the full blood count test. These tests to inspect the percentage of white blood cells, the platelet count, the hemoglobin level in the human blood and several other parameters of the human blood and the red blood cells.
