HOPP Act - Home Oxygen Patient Protection Act for home oxygen patients

Senator Pat Roberts has introduced a legislation called Home Oxygen Patient Protection Act. This legislation will ensure continued access and availability of home oxygen therapy to more than one million Medicare patients whose life depend on this life-sustaining therapy.

Capping the home oxygen benefit at 36 months and forcing patient ownership of equipment jeopardizes patient safety and threatens patients' independence and quality of life.

The typical home oxygen patient is 73-year-old female suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. This is a critical respiratory condition that causes an obstruction in the airflow to the lungs and is the fourth leading cause of death in USA.
